Though I have never had the pleasure of witnessing the awesome spectacle that is Mavericks, I have had my own little Maverick experiences further north, where the water seems a little bit colder and a lot more angrier!
One of the things I miss most, while stuck within this lame surf exile, is the winter ground swells that pummel the entire coast of my NORCAL home break, while experiencing the humbling situations that mother ocean provides for those of us lucky enough to catch one of her behemoths...though mine have always been in the 10-15 foot range.
Anyways, not too many months left now...3 more to go and I'm back, having missed most of the El Nino year, but ready to get myself water-trained and fit for swell duty next winter.
