Surfing wit Mr. Beer Can Beach

Had the pleasant experience of meeting up with Christian, from the SOCAL Beer Can Beach blog, for an early "Dawn Patrol" sesh at one of my favorite NORCAL surf spots. Though it was small, we both snagged a few fun peelers and had a great time getting to know one another.

Christian had one scary moment when he rode one of his waves too far inside and got caught trying to paddle back out against the oncoming swell, that kept pushing him towards the rocks. He finally made it back outside, but only after taking a couple of sets on his head. I had forgot to mention how going too far inside can cause problems in getting back out, but he seemed to have enjoyed the ride despite its repercussions.

All in all, we both enjoyed a stoked fueled session, being the only people out. Now all Christian has to do is get himself a 5/4 wetsuit with a hoodie, to replace his very shiver-inducing/non-hoodie 3/2, and he'll be set to put in some real NORCAL stoke time!

Here be a few pics of the surf following our session. Though small in these pics, we did catch some nice ones before the tide and wind came up.

  1. Such a pleasure meeting you! That was such a great way to end my trip to Humboldt. Yeah, that was one hell of a long paddle back out. I got too greedy and chased one way inside. Oops!
