I lay in a cool pool of anxiety-fueled self-doubt and desperation as my mind, trapped within the grasp of a chaotic brutality, twists and turns in an endless array of images, both violent and beautiful. Tis the season to forgive and forget...release and endure...shop and buy. What can one really do against the onslaught of the overzealous media-hyped exuberant activity that perpetuates and engulfs our society at this time of year? Is there really a necessary need to participate...to join all the other shop-crazed denizens in the search for that perfectly cheaply crafted "made in china" plastic entity that we Americans love to buy?
Indeed, how should one express themselves at this time of year? Can it be found within the social stereotypes and terms so easily hijacked by the corporate world and used as the dramatic decorations to the overall tree of deceptive materialistic wonder? Does the simple repetitious function of writing or vocalizing Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Merry Xmas, Wishing you a wonderful Winter Solstice fulfill our communal seasonal obligations at acknowledging our embrace of the holiday spirit? WHATEVER!!! Being the rebellious anti-hero of non-holiday cheer (BAH HUMBUG), I challenge us all to focus ourselves and our holiday perspectives innwardly, not outwardly.
Celebrate your inner self...use this time to reflect upon the previous years good and bad experiences...reassess your life and its purpose...spend some quality time with yourself and give yourself the gift of self-love...then go forth and spread the wisdom of this to others...for we as species spend way too much time fretting over those things outside of us and too little time finding the strength and hope that lay within us all.
May the peace and wisdom of you be with you...
